As you probably have recently noticed, there’s a new Michael Jackson film out, simply called “Michael”.

Of course many bio pics have been made recently on other artist such as Elton John, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Freddie Mercury, Neil Young, etc including an upcoming film on The Beatles.

As far as I know the reviews for Michael haven’t been all that good.
But I’m sure many Michael Jackson fans will attend anyway.

When I mention to people that I was a pop photographer in the 70s, many ask if I ever had photographed Michael Jackson.
He has a great many fans. More than you think.
On a recent visit to Spain I saw a middle-aged woman wearing a Michael Jackson t-shirt.

This all brings to mind my meeting with him and his extremely soft handshake.
He was very nice and friendly and was very cooperative every time I asked for a different pose. I’m pretty happy with the results.

Film director Spike Lee used one of my photos for his documentary “Off the Wall”.

During my lunch break at Schaeffer’s Camera, where I was working in Hollywood in the early 70s, a friend snuck me onto the set of a Dick Clark show when Michael sang a ballad about a rat.

Michael’s life was amazing and tragic at the same time.
