Back in 1975, I was working at Sherman Oaks Camera in LA. They gave me employee discounts on film and camera supplies. I was shooting assignments during lunch breaks and in the evenings, so the discount was welcome. 

The store had a sound-room where they sold stereo equipment. There was a big futuristic chair with built-in stereo speakers in the middle of the room. I spent a lot of time in that chair, listening to Peter Frampton’s wonderful live double-album including the hit “Show me the way”. 

Who could imagine that I would be meeting him, attending his live shows, and photographing him a mere year later in Amsterdam? A dream come true. A lovely and extremely talented human being, I’ve enjoyed his music for many years.

Sadly, he had a rare neuromuscular disease. In a recent interview with Page Six, he said “I’ve been so lucky. I’ve had an up-and-down career, but in the long run, I look at everything. Look at the last 60 years and go, ‘Wow, I’m the luckiest guy alive!’”

His positive outlook inspires me. His reminder that everyone’s going through something and that kindness is the most important thing, is a life lesson I wanted to share with you.
